Wolfpack Pulse Check: Second Road Game In A Row

The Washington Wolfpack are coming off their first win of the season, defeating the Beaumont Renegades last week 33-32. They led multiple times in the game but got the ball back, down by five, with just 19 seconds left. Head Coach JR Wells, quarterback Jaiave Magalei, and the entire offense didn't bat an eye. They moved the ball efficiently and scored a walk-off touchdown, caught by Deshon Williams.
"It’s really just about adjustments, seeing what they were doing and what they were trying to take away, and what part of the field was open to us," Head Coach JR Wells said. "We took advantage of that."
Despite pulling out the win, Coach knows the team is going to continue to improve. His goal every day is just to get one percent better than the previous game.
"We find ourselves starting slow, but most importantly, we’re putting up points."
New Face
There's a new face on the team. Evan Byrd has moved on, and the Washington Wolfpack have brought in Luiz Ferreira. Ferreira is from São Paulo, Brazil, and played college ball at Coastal Carolina. He has experience in the Arena Football game, playing for the Colorado Spartans (NAL) and the Salina Liberty.
"He’s got a boot. We’re beyond happy to have that kid not just as a kicker and a player but as a person. He is something special."
Oregon On Deck
The Wolfpack hit the road for the second week in a row, this time dropping down the coast to take on the Oregon Lightning. The Lightning won their Week 1 matchup, but the Wolfpack already feels like a completely different team. A win would be big for the Wolfpack as the standings continue to shift around week after week.
"We’re really excited about the movement," Coach JR said. "When you look at the standings, we’re in a prime position to make some noise." You can catch the Wolfpack take on the Lightning on AF1's Official YouTube on Saturday Night at 6 PM.
