Wolfpack Pulse Check: Back To Oregon

Wolfpack Pulse Check: Back To Oregon

The Washington Wolfpack are coming off a home loss to the Beaumont Renegades in a nail-biter. They lost the game 42-35, but still showed a lot of promise and fight. Eric Phoenix made his first start for Washington and looked great, throwing for 288 yards and four touchdowns.

"We started fast," Coach JR Wells said. "That was one of the biggest things for us. Establishing the offense and getting into a rhythm with things."

It was a frustrating loss in a game that the Wolfpack looked sharp throughout most of the game. With less than a minute left, the Wolfpack completed a 49-yard play for a touchdown and got the two-point conversion to tie the game up. Unfortunately, the Renegades ran the ensuing kickoff back for a touchdown and took the lead back with too little time left on the clock for the Pack to make the comeback.

Heading Back To Oregon

The Wolfpack head back to Oregon to take on the Lightning at First Interstate Bank Center at 6 PM on Saturday. The Wolfpack will be looking for a similar result as two weeks ago, when they beat the Lightning 79-19. However, Coach JR Wells and the Pack know that Oregon will be looking for revenge.

The Pack are on the road Friday for the six-hour drive to Redmond, OR, and will get loosened up and be ready for the game on Saturday. As good as Phoenix did last week against Beaumont, the Wolfpack will be happy to welcome back Jaiave Magalei as the starting quarterback.

Washington is currently sitting tied for fifth in the standings with Beaumont. The top six teams will make the playoffs.
