Washington Wolfpack Sign Javier Edwards

The Washington Wolfpack are continuing to build through the trenches for their 2026 Arena Football One season with the signing of defensive tackle Javier Edwards. Edwards adds a veteran presence on the defensive line and size that will provide a boost to the Wolfpack defense heading into 2026.

"Power. Experience. Dominance in the trenches," said Coach JR Wells. "Javier Edwards has competed at the highest levels, and now he's bringing that pro-level toughness to the Wolfpack."

Edwards played collegiately at Blinn College (JuCo) before transferring to Colorado. While at Blinn, he tallied 51 tackles, 2.0 sacks, and 4.5 tackles for loss. He saw continued success at Colorado, where he had 61 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks in 23 games.

After college, Javier spent time in multiple professional organizations in the 100-yard game and the 50-yard game. During his professional career, he has spent time with the Houston Texans on their training camp and practice squad roster. He also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals practice squad. In addition to his NGL experiences, he has spent time with The Spring League, Spokane Shock (IFL), and San Antonio Brahmas (XFL).

Edwards is a physical presence who can occupy space along the defensive line and create havoc in the backfield. Pairing him with tenacious edge rushers will elevate the pressure that Washington can apply to quarterbacks and create more stops and turnovers.

Coach Wells has been adamant that the key to Washington's success begins in the trenches. "When you control the line of scrimmage, you control the game, and this signing just made our defense a serious problem." With a new defensive coordinator and added talent along the defensive side of the ball, the Wolfpack are ready to hunt defensively.

Edwards and the Wolfpack open up training camp in Everett in the coming weeks, and Washington opens up their 2026 AF1 season on April 12 against the rival Oregon Lightning. Get your season tickets today and get ready to pack the Den for every home game.
